The RCE Vienna, hosted by the Institute for Ecological Economics at the WU Vienna, is a UN certified science-society interface. We work in a transdisciplinary setting and focus on new methods of transformational learning, teaching and knowledge exchange in the area of sustainable development. We provide a wide stakeholder platform for an open dialogue and the co-creation of knowledge between researchers and societal actors for greater Vienna and the CENTROPE region. Our key-issues include sustainability-driven entrepreneurship, social innovation, impact investment, transformative learning formats fostering key sustainability competences, or the societal impact of higher education in broader terms. In this context, we do transdisciplinary research, teaching, training and focus on the regional implementation of science-business collaboration projects, as well as regional and international projects based on social learning and knowledge exchange.

The Vienna Board of Education was founded in 1922 and is responsible for the running of more than 700 schools – primary to upper secondary – in the Viennese metropolis.
“Nomen est omen”: the European Office is a department within the Viennese Board of Education responsible for the development, implementation and supervision of a wide range of language learning initiatives, as well as projects that aim at an increased exposure and understanding of the European dimension. It is also the contact point for international and in particular European affairs.
In the project CERIecon (CE119) the European Office as Lead Partner works together with eight partner regions from seven countries Germany, Italy, Austria, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Croatia and Poland. During the 36-month project period, the 14 project partners will work together to improve the framework conditions for successful start-ups. The main project objectives are to develop new solutions for ‘Entrepreneurship Education’, to find training possibilities for students at all levels of education and to improve and strengthen entrepreneurship knowledge and skills of start-ups.
