A warm WELCOME to our new Start-ups!

On 8 October, the official event kicked off with 10 new, highly motivated and committed start-ups.💪 We started right away with the Start-up Camp in cooperation with the Sustainability Challenge. In an inspiring and autumnal atmosphere 🍁, the start-ups had the opportunity to work on their business plan away from their daily work stress, to receive valuable input from coaches, to plan their dreams with DREAM ACADEMIA and to work out their milestones for the 6-month Playpark program. We are eager to see what you will achieve! 🚀

Playpark Finals in Venice!- What a Success for our Austrian Start-ups!

Playpark Finals in Venice. Winners are New Austrian Coding School and Kern Tec, both from Playpark Vienna.

🥁 Such a great Playpark finals in Venice!🥁

Congratulations to New Austrian Coding School for the 🏆1. Prize as Social Start-up and to Kern Tec for the 🏆 1. Prize as Economic Start-up.🏆

🚀 We at Playpark Vienna are especially proud that both winners were chosen from our Playpark ☺️!

All in all we had 2 very exciting days, where many interesting start ups from 7 countries met each other and had the chance to exchange and network in the middle of Venice while enjoying the wonderful atmosphere!🌞

Now we are curious about the new start-ups, which will be starting soon!🤓

Playpark Exchange Week

Playpark Exchange Week

🥁There was a lot going on in the Playpark last week!🥁
We had 10 start-ups from the Stuttgart Playpark Startup Center Hochschule der Medien here and were able to give them an insight 👀 into the Viennese entrepreneurship scene. Visiting Hut & Stiel, cashpresso, Braintribe and Farbraum Wien, there were exciting tips and tricks from founders. A deeper insight into the Viennese start-up ecosystem was provided by a tour through the weXelerate, a visit to DerBrutkasten and the Vienna Business Agency. In addition there were exciting workshops from 180 Degrees Consulting Vienna and My Future Academy! Of course, getting to know the Viennese culture 🎡 has not come too short!

Most important, however, was the networking and exchange between the Viennese and Stuttgart start-ups 💪 . Conclusion: some very intense and exciting days with a lot of new input, fun and inspiration .

Playpark Pitching Finals

On the 2nd of July we had our internal pitching finals at the Playpark. In total 9 Teams presented their ecological/social and innovativ Start-ups in front of our Jury.

Good Luck to you!

Have you ever heard about Design Thinking

Application for the program (starting in October) will open soon!

Have you ever heard about Design Thinking?

No? Ok, let´s be brief: Design Thinking is a method, which helps you to find solutions to complex, tricky problems. It is based on 5 steps, which ideally lead you to an innovative solution: Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype and Test.

The method is already widely used in business contexts, for example to generate new products and services. But in a world, where consumerism is sometimes treated as a new religion and the actions of mankind cause serious harm to the socio-ecological environment – it should be more about finding solutions, that benefit society and environment in the first place.

Therefore, Alina Lindermuth, a student from the master program Socio-Ecological Economics and Policy at WU Vienna, dedicated her master thesis to evaluate the potential of the Design Thinking method for sustainability-driven Entrepreneurship and Organizations – meaning people, who focus their core business action around a social or ecological benefit. She found, that Design Thinking is a valuable method for sustainable and social means, because it is a human-centered, holistic and fast-proceeding process. However, Alina´s research also showed, that there is need and interest for altering the existing Design Thinking method to make it a more specified tool for sustainability-driven Entrepreneurship and Organizations. Therefore, she kept researching and finally invented Eco-Social Design Thinking, a method, considering socio-ecological considerations throughout the process of solving problems. (Interested? Don´t hesitate to ask your questions to Alina.)

To get an insight of Alina´s research and the Design Thinking method, watch the Video. The Video shows the Design Thinking Workshop she conducted during the research for her thesis at CERIecon Playpark Vienna with startups working there. Have fun watching it and join the fast-paced journey of innovation through the 5 steps of Design Thinking.
